The tank badges are made out of brass and in the center is an "eight ball" logo. The handlebar switch housings as well as the brake calipers and anything else that was painted black at the factory was stripped in carburetor cleaner and left in their natural aluminum finish.
Just to give you a little background,I started with a1978 Special that was put away 6 years ago because it was an oil burner and hadn't run since '92. I stripped it to the bare frame and modified it to take the seat and side covers which I formed out of aluminum. I also modified the swing arm to accept a  spoked drum brake rear wheel instead of the cast wheel with disk. I used aluminum rims off a '75 model laced up with stainless steel spokes. The front fork mounts on roller neck bearings and has a dual drilled disk set-up and a combination fork brace/fender bracket that I fabricated from stainless steel. Rear shocks came from Progressive Suspension. I junked all the stock instruments, wiring, lighting, and fenders and mounted a small custom headlight on a custom made bracket. A Lucas style tail light mounts under the seat --there's no rear fender except the original plastic part. I used the original speedometer  mounted on a custom bracket --no other insruments are used. I also got rid of the electric stater and it's associated circuitry. The battery was down-sized accordingly.   Actually, the engine is stock with no modifications but it has been completely rebuilt to original specs. As for exhaust, the pipes are MAC 2 into 2's that I got from Woody (Action Cycles). I decided to get my performance from leaving the engine stock and drastically reducing weight. That way the bike gains performance in handling as well as acceleration.
Front disks were drilled by dividing the disk into 48 divisions alternating between one hole and two holes.
