Things I learned on my
Ride Today (8/15/99)
as posted to the XS650 & XS11 list by me (Blaine)
and it's true!
I went for a nice ride up into the mountains today, was a bit
rainy but still really pleasant, I learned some important things
too.
#1 Even though you're wearing sunglasses and only going 30-40
through the canyons it's still a good idea to keep the face
shield down because bees hurt when they hit your face.
#2 After a bee hits your face it isn't necessarily dead.
#3 A stunned bee may sit inside your helmet for several minutes
before he becomes active again.
#4 When you feel something crawling around your ear you should
put your sidestand down and get off your bike before you stick
your finger in there to brush it away - better yet, don't stick
your finger in there at all, just carefully remove your helmet.
#5 Bee's make a loud and frightening noise when they are inside
your ear and get mad.
#6 It's hard to keep your balance astride an XS while you are in
a panic trying to tear your helmet off.
#6 Bee stings inside your ear hurt like hell.
#7 It is possible to ride your bike home without a clutch lever
(after tipping over by the side of the road while screaming and
tearing at your helmet) - but the cars behind you really get
irritated at the speed changes needed to catch all the lights
green or sudden right turns at the last minute when the light
doesn't change in time.
Did you ever see Ace Ventura running out of the bat cave?? I
think I looked even more ridiculous.
ride safe,
Blaine
